Amy Barnes shares her tips for success!

If you think 20, 30 or 40 pounds are hard to lose (they are!), consider 339 pounds! Getting started is often the most difficult part to a successful weight loss plan. Our Off the Couch! cover model Amy Barnes opens up in our new issue and tells readers how she lost 339 lbs. If that isn't enough, here—in the first of a series of video clips for my blog—she shares with us the psychology that fueled her successful journey of weight loss and provides some tips that kept her on track.

In this first video, Amy gives us tip #1 on getting started—the scoop on what it was like for her and how she managed to start and stick with her fitness and weight loss plan.

If you like the one below, check out Amy's next tip here!

  3. I can't wait to hear more of her ideas, tips and tricks. She did something right. She looks fantastic! Is there any way to get a hold her directly to talk with her? She has truly become my new motivation.. I have the magazine with me all the time, and when I get discouraged, I think of what she went through to get where she is!

  5. You look amazing! I subscribed to this magazine because of your story. Even your skin looks great. Did your skin tighten up naturally or did you have to have surgery?

  7. Wow Amy, your story was really moving for me. I am starting at 379 (well 373 this week) eating clean this month, and it was so great to see someone else who had a lot to lose. You look so fit and strong, that is my ultimate goal.

  9. Great tips. I would like to hear more about how she started out with the diet, what worked what didnt work.

Also when shooting these tips, make sure no one is walking behind her contanstly and voices allover. Put her in quiet place.

  10. My little sister recently lost 25 pounds and is complaining about how terrible her skin looks. She is 41 so maybe it's just because she's older but I was wondering how Amy got her skin to look so toned. I feel so bad for my sister to have worked so hard and still not feel pleased with how she looks. She has some more to go but is losing her willpower since she is not pleased with how she looks. (Of course she knows that it is healthier to have lost the weight and she feels better but, understandably, she wants to feel good about how she looks).

  12. Awesome! Go Amy!! I'm going straight to the store after work to see if I can get my hands on a copy here in Canada. Amy you look fantastic and I bet you feel even better! You are going to impact hundreds of women! Thank you for sharing and all the best to you and yours!

gwynbrown 1 - A couple years ago I lost 70lb at the age of 41. Time (they say it can take a year for skin to bounce back but I don't think it will take that long for her) and healthy food are important but from what I've seen and experienced personally is that strength training/weightlifting is the key to reducing/eliminating loose skin. Has your sister been lifting weights?

  13. It makes a big difference to hear someone inspiring like Amy share her journey rather than to just read about it. She makes it real. I am going to start the 21 day plan tomorrow. Listening to Amy is really motivating.

  14. I want to know how you tightened up the skin and if you had an issue with stretch marks. I lost 135 pounds and still have about 20 to go and see redundant skin and more stretch marks than I had when I was fat.
