Oxygen says hello!

Here is Abs cover model Melissa Pittman (Abs is on sale next month!) at our booth at the Arnold - rumor has it we won best booth 2011! Nice to see all of you - feel free to stay in touch!

Question: Melissa loves working out with a buddy. What tip can you share about working out with a friend?

  1. Beautiful cover! The big advantage in working out with a friend is being able to spot each other and having somebody to watch your form. You often don't realize you're not doing an exercise with perfect form when you're working-out alone, even if you're an experienced fitness gal. Perfect form is the key to an intense work-out.

  2. Thanks Elise - I agree with you (especially when i sometimes depend on squinting in the mirrors when I work out). A friend is soooo much better, so so many reasons!

  4. I love working out with "the boys." I was telling a girl last night to come workout when we do. She was saying she felt like she wasn't good enough to hang with us. But I told her THAT IS HOW YOU GET BETTER!! Be the small fish in a big pong because if you stay in the little pond you can't get any bigger! Let's say we are all going to do a circuit and one of the exercises is a prone row, I see what the guys are grabbing and I'll try to get dumbbells that are heavy so I can "hang," as long as my form is good. Half the time I end up telling them to go heavier because I'm catching up! Or when it's time for us to sprint, I get right in there with the fast guys because I'm there for me.. I'm there to get faster and when I run with them I have them there to push me.

  5. Thanks all - I have to say that when my sister and I were in Florida a few days ago we had the choice of a beginner or intermediate tennic clinic and, although we hadn't played in years, we thought we'd challenge ourselves - and it worked! Not only did we have a blast, we learned new drills that ramped up our game immeasurably! So, I agree - keep challenging yourself and I bet you'll constantly surprise yourself!
